Calling All Union City Residents Who are Interested in Becoming a Union City Police Officer

Applications will be posted on the Civil Service Commission website from March 1st to April 1, 2024

Dear Friend,

The New Jersey Civil Service Commission has announced the application for police officer will be available on their website from March 1st through April 1, 2024. This exam gives Union City residents the opportunity to apply to become a police officer with the Union City Police Department. I really want to see you become a part of our community and have a successful career as a Union City police officer.

Requirements:

  • Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old at the time of application
  • Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED or an approved high school equivalent certificate
  • Applicants must be able to read, write and speak English well
  • Applicants must be of good moral character and have not been convicted of any criminal offense
  • Applicants must pass a background check investigation and authorize access to all medical and mental health records
  • Applicants must pass the Police Training Commission pre-admission physical fitness test, which includes a 300 meter run, push-ups, a measured vertical jump, sit-ups and a 1.5 mile run.
  • Applicants must provide urine samples for drug testing analysis
  • Applicants must register and take the Law Enforcement Examination (LEE)
